HEDCO, Inc. Internship Program
Dates: Flexible
Hours: Approximately 10 to 20 hours weekly for a total of 325 hours. Schedule is flexible.
Stipend: $5,000 (to be paid quarterly)
There are (2) internship spots available. HEDCO will look over applications and selections will be made on a rolling basis.
Interns will work alongside HEDCO, Inc. staff to help better serve Connecticut’s minority and women-owned small businesses and other underserved businesses. This program will give students the opportunity to see how a non-profit economic development organization operates – providing technical assistance through its Business Resource Center and financial support.
The intern’s area of study will determine where within HEDCO their internship will take place. For example, a communications, marketing, or graphic/website design major may help businesses design a website, social media, or other branded marketing materials. Other majors, like finance or accounting, may work alongside HEDCO’s highly skilled loan officers, Chief Financial Officer, or Loan Administrative Specialist.
Skills and Experience:
- Interested in assisting small businesses throughout Connecticut.
- Interest in non-profits, economic development, or honing their skills through real world experience.
- Communication skills
- Willingness to participate in collaborative projects, weekly staff meetings, and keep a journal of their progress.
Suggested College Majors: Desired college majors include graphic design, web design, public administration, communications, marketing, accounting, finance, non-profit administration, business management, or another related field.
